Ans. Dengue fever virus is transmitted from a sick to healthy person by Aedes type of mosquito (Aedes aegypti, and A. albopictus), while malaria fever causing protozoan is transmitted by Anopheles mosquito, Both the types of mosquitoes breed .in water. Following are the similarities and' differences between the breeding sites of the two;
1. The female Aedes mosquitoes lay eggs in clean standing water even if it is in very small quantity, such as water jars, flower pots and vases, unused toilets, old tyres, animal drinking pots/pans, rain water barrels? gutters, water tanks, holes in concrete or cement floor, buckets kept for fire fighting, shallow wells.
The female Anopheles lay eggs on the surface of stagnant or flowing water of ponds, ditches, water tanks, flower pots and vases, neglected toilets,
buckets with water buckets and other containers etc.
2. Eggs of Aedes survive in dry conditions, while eggs of Anopheles cannot live in dry
