What is the function of DNA?

Answer.  DNA plays a very important function in all the living organisms.
(i)       It permanently stores genetic information in the nucleus of the cell.
(ii)      It passes this information as instructions from generation to generation about how to synthesize particular proteins from amino acids.
(iii)     These instructions are ‘genetic code of life’; that determines the nature of an organism as well as of a cell.
(iv)     DNA carries genes that control the synthesis of RNA. RNA sunthesizes new proteins according to the instructions passed one by DNA.
