if people don't follow laws, there will be complete confusion and lack of order.

People like such citizen who obey rules and regulations created by its society. But a society do not consist of only those citizen who obey rules rather there are both types of people who are obedient and disobedient too. Those people who do not obey rules they harm themselves either knowingly or without knowing . Disobedient people are burden for a society. They lose down there prestige in the society.Later they are hatred by the society.

The only reason for rules or laws, if you want, is to make things predictable. It levels out the field so we can reliably carry on with our lives. Without rules, we can’t really play a good ‘game’. If there is no sideline in football, how does that effect the game? If we didn’t all drive on the ‘agreed’ upon side of the road, would we actually be able to get to work in the morning?

Laws, rules, government, whatever has been instituted and held in place because that is the only ‘sane’ way to do things. If we were all alone on this planet, we wouldn’t need any rules, would we? But when you get two or more people, we start to run into trouble.

So, we make some ‘agreements’ to do things a certain way, that hopefully benefits most of us most of the time. Without some benefit, it wouldn’t be maintainable. We have to get something in exchange for following the rules.

Now in order to make sure that we do follow the rules, there is usually some kind of penalty for not following them. The benefits, by themselves, are not enough for some people. They would like to have all the benefits, and to hell with you. SO we have to put in some penalties for non-performance and then we have to put in place a way to enforce them. We need the sheriff, police, guards, (mothers) to make sure that we do what we have “agreed” to.

Many people say they didn’t agree to the rules and they are belligerent about it. So the solution to that is to keep them out of the game, to isolate them away from those that do agree. I think that is called a prison in most cases.

That is a pretty succinct treatise on what rules are. There are volumes and volumes of what they really are. But mother said it best…. “because I said so”.
