Luminous objects: Objects that their own light are called luminous objects. The Sun is the biggest natural source of light an Earth. Non-luminous: Objects that do not emit their own light are called non-luminous objects. We see non-luminous objects when light from a luminous object falls on them and reflects into our eyese.g chair, book, trees, bags etc.

WHAT ARE LUMINOUS AND NON LUMINOUS OBJECTSLight is a combination of both electrical and magnetic energy which travels very fast and it can pass through both transparent and translucent objects.

There are two types of light. They are luminous objects and non- luminous objects. Objects that emit light on their own are called luminous objects. Best examples of luminous objects are the sun, stars, light bulb etc. Objects that do not reflect light are known as non luminous objects. Examples of non luminous objects are wood, plastics, metals etc.

Properties of Luminous Objects and Non Luminous ObjectsLuminous bodies like the sun, a gas flame and an electric light filament are visible since they are light sources. These are called self luminous objects. The objects other than self luminous objects are visible only when they are in the presence of light from the luminous objects. That is, these are the non luminous objects. All the non luminous objects are capable of reflecting light to our eyes. Moon is the best example of the non luminous objects. All luminous objects can store energy.

They can generate heat and light. Non luminous objects cannot store energy as in the case of luminous objects. Non luminous objects can reflect both light and heat. The color of the non luminous objects depends on the color of the light reflected by them. The color of the reflected light depends on the color of the incident light. . Some of the objects can store from the visible light and emit it later.

I am planning to write more post on Magnetic Induction Units  and Work Equation Physics . Keep checking my blog.

This is why some of the luminous objects have to be charged by a light bulb or by the sunlight. Due to irregular reflection of light we can see the non luminous objects. Most of the luminous objects give off light in the visible spectrum. Sometimes they also give off light at a different wavelength which is invisible in the normal light. These are highly visible in the UV light or black light. These materials are termed as fluorescent materials. These are primarily used in disco-lighting. Some of the living things have the capability of causing natural luminescence. Some of them react to chemical energy produced by their bodies in their cells and they produce light. Stone, paper, planets are the best examples of the non-luminous objects that we observe in the nature daily..
