The period of Shah Jahan's reign was considered the golden age of Mughal architecture. Shah Jahan built many monuments, the best known of which are Taj Mahal, Shalimar Gardens, Red Fort, Jahangir's Mausoleum, etc.
The reign of Jalaluddin Mohammed Akbar (1556–1605), is known as the golden period of the Mughal era,as he expanded the empire from nothing but a small Kingdom to an empire that even the British were feared of.
The administrative reforms, his tolerance towards other religions, cultures and languages, his friendship with the Rajputs, marked the starting of the golden age of the Mughals.
Akbar's son and grandson- Jahangir (1605–1627) and Shah Jahan (1628–1657) also followed Akbar's way of administration and the golden age followed, only to be ended by Shah Jahan's son Aurangzeb (1658–1707). Aurangzeb was intolerant of non islamic religions and killed many innocent Hindus and sikhs, and forcibly converted them. Due to his intolerant and rude attitude, the Mughal Empire began to crumble after his death.
So, the Akbar-Jahangir-Shahjahan period was the golden age for the mughals.
