Ans. MECHANICAL WAVES
Such waves which require any medium for their propagation are called mechanical waves.
Examples
(i) Water wave
(ii) Sound waves
(iii) Waves produced in springs
(iv) Waves produced in strings

ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES
Such waves which do not require any medium for their propagation are called electromagnetic waves.

Examples
(i) Radio waves
(ii) Television waves
(iii) X-rays
(iv) Heat and light waves
