What is wave equation? Derive a relationship between speed, frequency and wavelength of a wave?

Ans.  WAVE EQUATION

The relationship between the velocity, frequency and wavelength of the wave is known as wave equation.
A relation between velocity of a wave, distance covered by the wave and time taken is written as:

If time taken by the wave in moving .from one point to another is equal to the time period, then the distance covered by the wave will be equal to one wavelength. Hence Eq. (i) can be written as:

But time period T is the reciprocal of the frequency f i.e., T = (Hi)
By putting the value of T in Equation (ii), we get v = f X ....(1)
Equation (1) is called the wave equation.
