Laparoscopic surgery is a "minimally invasive" approach to either remove the endometrial growths and scar tissue, or burn them away with intense heat. If the growths can't all be safely destroyed this way, surgeons can do a laparotomy, which involves making a larger cut in your abdomen. This has a much longer recovery period, but is still less invasive than hysterectomy and keeps a chance of saving fertility.
