The direction of electric field intensity in an electric field can be indicated by drawing lines.These lines are known as electric field lines or electric lines for force.
Electric lines of force are imaginary lines around a field charge with an arrow head indicating the direction of force. Electric field lines always moves from positive charge towards the negative charge. It means electric lines of force originate from a positive charge and terminate at a negative charge. The spacing between the electric lines of force shows the strength of the electric field.
