Natural pectin, found in citrus fruits and other plants, can’t be digested by your body. Some people take a supplemental form of pectin called modified citrus pectin (MCP) for different reasons. It may help lower LDL "bad" cholesterol. But the effect is small and you’ll usually need to make other changes to bring it down to healthy levels.
Research suggests, but does not prove, that pectin may slow the growth of prostate cancer in some men.
