Ans. Heavy positively charged protons in conductors (metals) are bound in the nuclei of atoms. Therefore, they are not free to move inside the conductors Electrons present at larger distance from the nuclei of atoms of conductor are loosely bound. These electrons are called free electrons wNch can move freely inside the conductor and are means of charge transfer in conductors.
