Addiction is a brain disease that often happens again. Someone who's addicted compulsively seeks the drug they're addicted to, despite problems that it causes for them and their loved ones. The addiction actually changes the brain. It affects a person's self-control and ability to make good decisions. Meanwhile, the person has intense impulses to take more drugs. It's a vicious cycle.
