Good habits can help you fall and stay asleep. Some tips:

If you wake up at night and can't go back to sleep, stay quiet and relax. Be patient. You’ll usually get sleepy again. A few nights of poor sleep won’t do any long-term harm.

  • Keep your bedroom quiet and dark.
  • Avoid watching TV or other stimulation within 15 minutes of bedtime
  • Try to keep a regular sleep schedule.
  • Avoid heavy meals, smoking, alcohol, or caffeine near bedtime.
  • Keep the bedroom reserved for sleep and sex only.
