An HTML document consists of text surrounded by tags. These tags are instructons to the browser on how to interpret or display text contained within them. Tags mostly come in pairs. One tag of the pair begins an instructon and the other ends it. Tags have a certain format. The command is enclosed in two angle brackets
. an opening angle bracket, <
. a closing angle bracket, >
The tag, or command, is contained within these two brackets like <html>. Paired tags have another tag that looks almost like the frst tag. The only diference is that the second of the paired tag has a forward slash like </ html>. These tags are not case sensitve; you can write them in either the lower case or the upper case. Any combinaton of the two is also possible. Consistency with anyone is beter.
