PMLE is a severe skin reaction that doesn't seem to be linked to drugs or diseases. It happens in people who are at risk and get in intense sunlight that they're not used to. For example, people living in northern climates could have it if they take a winter vacation in a tropical climate. Native Americans can have an inherited form of PMLE.
