Sporotrichosis is an infection of the skin caused by a fungus that’s most often found on rose thorns, hay, sphagnum moss, twigs, and soil. Sporotrichosis in the skin or lymph usually are not dangerous. Sometimes you might have open ulcers that get infected with bacteria and may cause a condition known as cellulitis.
If you notice that the area around the ulcer is more painful, warmer, and growing larger in redness, go to the emergency room right away.
