Azathioprine (Imuran) is used for many different inflammatory conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The most common side effects are nausea and vomiting, sometimes with stomach pain and diarrhea. Long-term use of azathioprine is associated with an increased risk of cancer.
