1) Inverted Nipples
In some cases, one or both of the ripples fail to elevate above the skin surface. This condition occurs due to a failure in the development of nipple during its later stages. In about 25% of the cases this condition is bilateral. This anomaly is important clinically in two ways: (i) it makes breast feeding of the infant difficult (because normal suckling can not occur), and (ii) an inverted nipple is prone to infection.
