Heterotropia is defined as the presence of a tissue in an abnormal location. Heterotropic gastric mucosa may be found in the esophagus, gall bladder or intestine, especially in the Meckel's diverticulum (which occurs in about 2% of the people as a congenital anomaly of the ileum)
