A dermatologist (skin doctor) can usually tell if you have plaque psoriasis just by talking with you about your medical history and looking at your skin. In some cases, he or she may need to do a biopsy to know for sure. Your doctor will take a tiny sample of your skin and look at the cells under a microscope.
