A prosthodontist specializes in repairing natural teeth and replacing missing teeth on a much larger scale than a general dentist. The dentists use artificial teeth (dentures), gold crowns (caps), and ceramic crowns to replace missing and extracted teeth. They also replace teeth using dental implants. In addition, specially trained prosthodontists work with people who have head and neck deformities, replacing missing parts of the face and jaws.
