In some cases, your doctor may recommend surgery to take out the lesion on your brain or spinal cord that's causing your symptoms. During surgery, you may get a brain implant that sends out electrical impulses. This is called deep brain stimulation (DBS). The bursts of energy can block the "wrong" signals that are causing your myoclonus. Some people who have DBS have fewer muscle twitches, but like all surgeries, there are risks. More research is needed to figure out who should have DBS.
