Since the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم himself belonged to the family of the Quraish, they thought that he صلى الله عليه وسلم would favour them and would not let his صلى الله عليه وسلم would favour them and would not let his صلى الله عليه وسلم family down.
