Even a small accident in a nuclear reactor could be very disastrous. In 1986, the cooling system of a reactor in Churnoble (Russia) failed, due to which roof of the reactor blew up with a blast in a few minutes and radioactive gas clouds spread all over the area. Hundreds of people were killed in that accident. Later on many of the people died after suffering from cancer.
