How does shielding effect decreases the force of electrostatic attractions between nucleus and outermost electrons?

The electrons present b/w the nucleus and the outer most shell of an atom reduce the nuclear charge felt by electrons present in the outermost shell. The attraction of outer electrons towards nucleas is partially reduced because of pressure of inner electrons.
