Prefixes are based on multiplying and dividing the units by power of 10 .The words or letters adds before SI units such as milli ,centi ,and kilo are known as prefixes.
Example: Milli means 1000th part .Millimetre is the 1000th part of a metre ,i.e 1/1000m.It means ,1m = 1000mm
