A person having this defect can see distant objects clearly but near objects appear blurred. This defect is caused when the eye lens becomes thin or the eyeball becomes too short.Due to this effect the image of the near object is formed beyond the retina. That is why the near object appears blurred in long-sightedness.This defect is known as hyperopia .
